    • Title: What Should We Prepare for the Carbon Neutrality?
    Dr. Jong-Nam Kim is the president of the Korea Institute of Energy Research and a member of the Carbon Neutral Committee of President Advisory Council on Science & Technology. He was a member of the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Commission and the National Hydrogen Economy Committee.

    • Title: Denmark’s Political Drive for a Green Transition in the Context of Energy Security 
    H.E. Einar Jensen has had a long and distinguished career as a civil servant in Denmark. He holds a master’s degree in Agricultural Science, specialised in Economics and Law, from The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen. He began his career in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency before serving as advisor to two Ministers for Environment. He began his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an environmental attaché to South Africa before rising to Head of Department of the South East Asia and the Pacific Office. In 2006, he was appointed ambassador to the Republic of Bangladesh, where he worked for four years. From 2010 to 2015, he worked as Head of Department in the MFA Office for Humanitarian Action, Development Policy and Civil Society before being appointed ambassador to Tanzania with a side accreditation to Zambia, Malawi, Mauritius, and The East African Community. In November 2019, he was accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Korea. Throughout his career, H.E. Einar H. Jensen has had a strong interest in development policy, agricultural development, and sustainability with an emphasis on inclusive partnerships, good governance, and institutional enhancement.

    • Kotaro Sasaki, Ph.D.

    • Title: Recent Advances in Low-Pt Electrocatalysts for Fuel Cells
    Dr. Kotaro Sasaki is a chemist in the Chemistry Division at Brookhaven National Laboratory in NY, USA. He received BS and MS degrees in Materials Science from Tohoku University (Japan), and a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Cambridge University (UK). He joined the Chemistry Division at BNL in 2001. His research interests involve the development of electrocatalysts for energy conversion systems, as well as synchrotron-based in situ characterization of nano-structured materials. He received two R&D 100 Awards for developing Pt monolayer electrocatalysts for fuel cell cathodes in 2012 and biomass-derived PGM-free electrocatalysts for hydrogen production in 2016.

    • Title: A Review of Solar Forecasting
    Professor Kleissl researches the interaction of weather with engineering systems in solar power systems and the electric power grid. Kleissl received an undergraduate degree from the University of Stuttgart and a PhD from the Johns Hopkins University, both in environmental engineering with a focus in environmental fluid mechanics. He is the Director of the UC San Diego Center for Energy Research and Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC San Diego.

    • Heileen (Helen) Hsu-Kim, Ph.D.

    • Title: Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from Coal-Based Waste Streams
    Dr. Heileen (Helen) Hsu-Kim is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Duke University. Prior to joining the Duke faculty, Dr. Hsu-Kim completed her B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering at MIT, and M.S./Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering at UC-Berkeley. Dr. Hsu-Kim’s expertise area is aquatic geochemistry and her research focuses on trace metals and their biogeochemical transformations in environmental systems. In addition to her work on separation processes to recover rare earth elements from coal-based wastes, Dr. Hsu-Kim studies mercury pollution in the environment, the impacts of artisanal gold mining in Latin America, and new methods to quantify personal exposures to toxic chemicals in the ambient environment.

    • Colin E. Snape, Ph.D.

    • Title: The UK's pathway to Net Zero 2050: Does Policy Match the Ambition?
    Prof. Colin Snape FRSE has been involved in fuel science and technology for over 40 years and has 370 peer reviewed publications and has successfully supervised over 60 PhDs. He has led many UK Research Council, UK Government and Research Fund for Coal & Steel and Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and currently directs the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in CCS and Cleaner Fossil Energy. As well as adsorbents for CO2 capture, his current research encompasses shale gas resource estimation, biochar and hydrothermal carbonisation for bio-waste utilisation. He currently lead the £4.5M Biochar Demonstrator project funded by the UK Research Councils Greenhouse Gas Removal programme. Honours include winning the Henry H. Storch Award in 2006 from the American Chemical Society and being an Honorary Chair Professor, Shandong University.

    • Title: The Role of Photovoltaics for the Realization of the Carbon Neutral Society
    Makoto KONAGAI received the B.E., M.E and D.E degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1972, 1974 and 1977, respectively. From 1977 to 2015, he worked at Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he was engaged in the development of solar cell materials and devices. He has been working at Tokyo City University since April 2015. He has authored over 400 publications in international journals. He organized PVSEC-9 (Miyazaki, 1996) and WCPEC-6 (Kyoto, 2014). He has received the PVSEC Award (1999), Medal with Purple Ribbon (2013), Hamakawa Award (2014) and GPVC Award (2021).
